- Before JavaScript was developed, web pages were statics and display dynamic content or respond to user input, the entire page would have to be reloaded from the server, which made the web a less interactive and responsive experience for users.
History of JavaScript*
JavaScript was designed to be a lightweight easy-to-learn programming language that could be used to interact with web pages. It was originally developed by Netscape and it was quickly adopted by other web browsers language in the world and is used on almost every modern web page.
JavaScript was invented by Brendan Eich in 1995.
It was developed for Netscape 2 and became the ECMA-262 standard in 1997.
Initially known as LiveScript, Netscape changed the name to JavaScript so they could position it as a companion for the Java language, a product of their partner, son microsystem.
Its earliest release suffered from notable performance and security issues, but developments had no alternative.
In 2008 the creation of google's open-source chrome V8 high-performance JavaScript engine provided a crucial turning point for JavaScript.
Ryan Dahl released an open-source cross-platform environment called Node.Js. IT provided a way to run JavaScript code from outside a browser.
It freed JavaScript from the browser's confines and led directly to JavaScript's current popularity.
